Horace Bénédict de Saussure's Dream

The Geneva geologist Horace Bénédict de Saussure, a pioneer in alpinism, was captivated by Mont Blanc, the roof of Europe. His fervent ambition to conquer its summit in August 1786 marked a pivotal moment in his scientific pursuits. Since every grand endeavor is preceded by a dream, I imagined de Saussure's longing gaze fixed upon Mont Blanc from various vantage points near Geneva. To authentically capture the essence of that era, I drew inspiration from the light renderings in late 18th-century watercolor mountain paintings by artists like Cozens, Constable, and Turner. The monumental nature of this subject necessitates a grand format, ensuring the majestic grandeur of Mont Blanc radiates vibrantly within your space.
