Pure Morning

In early autumn, a thick stratus cloud often blankets the Lake Geneva region. Below, the landscape is shrouded in gray, but above, a breathtaking spectacle unfolds. Before dawn, I climbed the peaks surrounding Geneva, in the pre-Alps of Savoy, awaiting the first light. As the sun emerged, a symphony of colors—blue, red, orange, and violet—spread across the sky, blending into a lyrical dawn above the sea of clouds. This radiant morning gift filled my day with optimism through its vibrant hues. Using medium-format chromogenic film, I sought to capture these ephemeral atmospheres as authentically as possible, with minimal editing—even if the richness of these saturated colors might seem enhanced. To fully embrace their interplay, consider displaying multiple photographs from this series, allowing their vivid hues to engage in a joyful dialogue.
