The Vouivre Hideout

''La Vouivre'' is an ancient tale from the French Jura Mountains about a princess transformed into a winged serpent. At nightfall, she returns to her human form at the source of the Ain River. There, amidst the green waters reflecting her gaze, she bathes and then retreats into a subterranean cave where the river springs. Brave souls attempted to follow her into the cave during low water levels, but the Vouivre raised the waters, leading to their demise. To illustrate this tale, I chose an autumn evening when the water was midway, enticing entry into the cave, yet menacingly high, for the elusive Vouivre is not easily approached. This aquatic spectacle harmonizes seamlessly with a grand, acrylic finish, ensuring the Vouivre's source becomes a captivating presence in any space.
