The Second Lake

During autumn, the Lake Geneva region often finds itself draped in a dense blanket of clouds, casting a somber mood that lingers for weeks. Late November, I ascended Mount Voirons (a Celtic-named peak meaning the realm of the very high), overlooking the lake, patiently awaiting the twilight hours. Up there, the sun radiated, casting its glow onto the clouds covering the lake, creating a second lake – one of clouds. Much like life, which can be either gloomy and dull or luminous and enriching, depending on the perspective we adopt, the sun over this lake of clouds guides me on which side to view from. These expansive landscape photographs demand grand formats to illuminate spaces with their unique luminous ambiance.
